Raised in the Black Swamp region of Ohio only a couple miles from Griffin's Hines Farm blues club, one of the last real juke joints in existence, Steve Mignano connected with the blues at an early age. While still in his teens, his father gave him a gold-mine collection of classic blues, rock and soul vinyls, among them albums by Eric Clapton, BB King, The Allman Brothers, Paul Butterfield, Jimi Hendrix, Dr. John, and Roy Buchanan - some of Steve's favorite records to this day.
After high school Steve began studying jazz and world music, inspired in part by the modernist approach of guitarists like Robben Ford, Scott Henderson and Mike Landau, but he always remained deeply rooted in the blues/rock genre. Landing his first professional gig at age 20 with Toledo OH blues harp virtuoso Johnny Reed, he played clubs and festivals all over the region opening for national blues acts.
In 2011, Steve released his first original album 'Grey Sky' to critical acclaim. His seasoned vocals, soulful tone and streamlined chops can now be heard in venues nationally and internationally with his own band, as well as a host of top tier acts that span all genres including neo blues artist Cassie Taylor and Native American/Celtic fusion violinist Arvel Bird.
